3. Pumpkin

By the time you reach Fall, you should have enough money to pass over the cheaper seeds at the general store, and head straight for pumpkins. Pumpkins aren’t the best crop you can buy for the Fall, but are a good starting option if you haven’t devoted a lot of time to farming yet. Each seed costs 70 tesserae and takes nine days to grow. One pumpkin sells for 180 tesserae, netting a 110 tesserae profit per pumpkin. With a whole field of them, a successful pumpkin harvest will bolster your finances quite a bit! Despite such a hefty return in investment, the pumpkin is still the lowest on the list due to how much better other Fall crops are. That being said, it’s also the only crop on this list that doesn’t require any prerequisites to use or extra steps to profit best off of. It’s a solid, sturdy crop.

2. Cranberry/Onion

As is the trend with many crops that yield multiple harvests in Fields of Mistria, Cranberries are a great option during the Fall. Selling for 125 tesserae, you won’t turn a profit on them until the third harvest, but this is why timing is key. Plant them nice and early at the beginning of the season, and you’ll have eight harvests from one cranberry plant! That’s a 200% profit! After you ship your first cranberry, you’ll unlock the “Cranberry Juice” recipe. With a single cranberry, you can cook this item and increase its selling price by another 10 tesserae! Onion seeds are sold at the general store after you improve the town to a certain extent. They’re the same price as cranberry seeds, but the harvest sells for 135 tesserae. Switching from cranberries to onions as soon as you can eliminates the extra step of having to cook for the extra profit margins. Even though they can generate plenty of money for you, these crops are only second on the list. That’s because the top dog in the Fall is impossible to beat.

1. Wheat/Rice Stalk

Don’t let the nine day growth cycles of these crops fool you. If planted on the first day of the season, wheat and rice stalk will provide you with seven complete harvests. What’s more, at the same price of a cranberry or onion seed, these crops will sell for 150 tesserae each. That’s at least 15 tesserae more per unit! This isn’t what makes them the strongest crop in the Fall. Wheat and Rice Stalk can both be converted into Flour and Rice respectively. This raises the selling price of both to 175 tesserae! This averages out to 34 tesserae per day while you’re growing them. By comparison, onions only generate 30 tesserae per day. Wheat and Rice Stalk aren’t just the best crops in the Fall, they’re also the best crops in general. Granted, you have to unlock the mill in order to process them into their refined versions to squeeze all the profit you can out of them. Once you do, you’ll be rolling in money in no time.
