Baldur’s Gate 3 features tons of classes that can be combined together on a character, including the Sorcerer and Paladin classes. This guide will explain everything you need to know to make the best BG3 Sorcadin build possible.
How to make a Sorcadin Build in BG3
Sorcadin is a name the BG3 community has given to the build that blends together the Sorcerer and Paladin classes. It takes the long-range, magical aspects of the Sorcerer and adds to the hefty and tank-like nature of the melee Paladin class. Here are the options you should pick at the character creator to make a Sorcadin character:
- Race: Any. Races do not affect stats. However, I prefer ones like Elf, Half-Elf, Tiefling, Human, Drow, Dragonborn, and Halfling.
- Starting Class: This is the tricky part. It is up to you to decide whether to start with Sorcerer or Paladin first. Either way, I recommend Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer and either Oath of Ancients or Oathbreaker Paladin.
- Background: Any but I recommend Acolyte, Charlatan, Noble, Sage, and Outlander for roleplay purposes.
- Attributes Focus: Strength and Charisma
- Abilities/Skills: Recommended starting spells and skills are Magic Missile, Acid Splash, Bone Chill, Fire Bolt, Lay on Hands, and Smite.
- Level Spread: This depends on your preference. I suggest alternating between the two with an even split of 6 and 6 for both Paladin and Sorcerer. However, it is possible to an 8 and 4 split, giving focus to your preferred class.
Best BG3 Sorcadin Weapons
Since you are using both a magical and melee class, you have a lot of weapon types at your disposal. When it comes to choosing your weapon, I recommend either the long sword/shield combo, a crossbow, or a quarterstaff. A ranged weapon is a solid option if you prefer to keep your distance.
When it comes to specific weapon recommendations for the best BG3 Sorcadin build, these are the ones I suggest:
- Everburn Blade: This not only deals fantastic damage, but it is there for those who like a bit of a fiery touch to their attacks. Better yet, you can get it at the beginning of the game and it lasts you the entire experience.
- Balduran’s Giantslayer: As a Paladin, you’ll want Strength as your main attribute. This legendary sword doubles the damage from your attacks with your Strength modifier. Plus, it makes you more useful against larger enemies, which makes this perfect for this build.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available now for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
