Best Baldur’s Gate 3 Wizard Build

If you are a fan of being the best and most traditional magic-wielder glass cannon in Baldur’s Gate III, you’ll want to build a character in the Wizard class. Wizard is quite varied, especially in its schools of magic. This might make it a bit of a challenge to create the best build, but also encourages experimentation when coming up with the best Baldur’s Gate III Wizard build for you.

All Wizard Subclasses in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)

If you want to have the best Wizard build, you’ll want to think heavily about which school of magic to specialize in when you reach level two. There are eight of these, which is far more than the subclasses available anywhere else.

This decision is ultimately up to you, but here are all eight of them and what they focus on:

  • Abjuration: Spells focused on defense and survival.
  • Conjuration: The primary school for summoning effects and beasts to fight for you.
  • Divination: Able to see the future in a way. Has the unique dice feature you can use to replace poor dice rolls.
  • Enchantment: A crowd control school that focuses on charming and controlling foes.
  • Evocation: This school focuses on enhancing attacks and enchantments. One of the weaker schools.
  • Necromancy: Focuses on benefiting from the dead and undead, allowing you to regain health and summon undead allies.
  • Illusion: This is all about creating illusions to trick and deceive foes.
  • Transmutation: All about alchemy and Polymorph. The only class outside of Druid capable of turning into an animal, so worth considering.
