Given the Dungeons & Dragons-based systems in Baldur’s Gate 3, it should come as no surprise that it works tremendously well as a multiplayer game. That said, there is still room for improvement, which is where these best multiplayer mods come into play. These are the mods you should consider installing if you want to get the most out of your online sessions. Just remember to have everyone in the lobby install all of the same mods first.
Party Limit Begone
First up for the best Baldur’s Gate 3 multiplayer mods is the most important one of them all: Party Limit Begone from Sildur. In the base game, you can only have up to four people playing online together or four characters in your party offline. This mod changes all of that, allowing for an unbelievable eight players online together or up to 16 characters, including NPCs.
AI Friends Mod
This next mod, AI Friends from MalachXaviel and Nox Phantom, pairs extremely well with Party Limit Begone. If you have a group of 16 and seven friends playing with you, this can make combat cumbersome and take way too long to complete. This mod makes the AI party members not controlled by real players automatically act on their own, speeding up everything in the process.
Fast XP
This Fast XP mod from Malcroix gives your entire party double XP for the duration of the game. If your multiplayer group feels like progression is too slow in this game (which I agree), this can help everyone to start customizing their spells, skills, and classes to their liking much quicker.
Recruit Any NPC
If you use the mod above to remove the party limit, you might find yourself in a situation where you don’t have characters to add to your group, even with online friends. This ridiculous mod, Recruit Any NPC from ImWayden, literally lets you recruit any character you come across in the game to your party, which could make for some truly wild online campaigns.
FFXIV Classes
What better way to improve your online sessions than to emulate arguably the greatest MMORPG of all time: Final Fantasy XIV? This FFXIV Classes mod from Pierre4 adds in the Samurai and Dragoon jobs as class options, modeled after the MMO versions. There are also plans down the line to add in Dark Knight and Sage as well.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for PS5 and PC. It will also be released for Xbox Series X/S later in 2023.
