Behaviour Interactive is constantly adding new characters to Dead by Daylight, tapping into the best horror games and movies to bring in new Killers and Survivors. It’s a lot to keep track of, or pay for if you’re constantly buying the new DLC. Here are some initial characters to start with when you feel like picking off unsuspecting survivors.
The Nurse, aka Sally Smithson
The Nurse is one of the deadliest possible foes because of her ability to Blink. This allows her to go through floors or obstacles to immediately head toward a Survivor. She can even Chain Blink to really sneak up on Survivors. Pair that with her perks that let her see when people are healing, hear their sounds, and slow their action speed when injured, and she’s one of the fastest foes around. And for those just jumping into Dead by Daylight, the Nurse’s Calling perk is great to have, and works with a ton of other Killers. So it’s worth leveling her up to unlock this perk, just because it’ll give you that extra map awareness.
If you want to use The Nurse in Dead by Daylight and have one of the best Killers on your side, there’s no need to pay extra. She’s part of the free The Last Breath Chapter update.
The Xenomorph from Alien
I think the Xenomorph is pretty great in Dead by Daylight because of its perks. They basically all involve buffs for you or negative status effects for Survivors. So Alien Instinct is going to make a Survivor’s aura more visible and make them Oblivious after hook one. Rapid Brutality gives you haste for basic attacks and keeps Bloodlust from happening. But Ultimate Weapon is great, as it makes Survivors near any Locker you open scream and makes them temporarily blind. This is great for other Killers as well, not just for the Xenomorph, which makes this Chapter all the more appealing if you’re looking for extra perks to make some top-tier builds.
To use the Xenomorph in Dead by Daylight, you need to buy the Alien Chapter Pack for $11.99 first.
The Executioner, aka Pyramid Head from Silent Hill
What I like about The Executioner is that even if you’re new to Dead by Daylight, you can still be one of the best and most threatening Killers around. His Punishment of the Damned can deal damage in an Attack Trail and hit multiple Survivors. You can leave a Torment Trail that inflicts Torment on Survivors. If one is tormented, then you can put them in a Cage of Atonement or use Final Judgment to even immediately execute a character who has either been hooked twice and is afflicted with Torment, or has been caged twice. This isn’t even mentioning the reach of the Great Knife and the Trail of Torment unique perk that kicks in after a generator is damaged to make Pyramid Head Undetectable and make the Generator aura turn yellow.
If you want to use The Executioner in Dead by Daylight, then you need to pay $7.99 for the Silent Hill Chapter. The Chapter also includes Cheryl Mason, who appears as a Survivor.
The Blight, aka Talbot Grimes
The Blight is one of those Killers that can take some time to learn, given the Rush ability that makes it extra fast and agile. But also, since running into stuff with a Slam will start a Chain Rush window that lets you attack with a Lethal Rush, you can play around and learn as you go too. The Blight is considered one of the best Killers in Dead by Daylight for his agility, and ability to pin down Survivors quickly because of Lethal Rush. His perks are pretty decent, but it’s really the Blight’s ability that puts him a head above the rest.
If you want The Blight in Dead by Daylight, you need to pay extra. The Killer is a part of the Macabre Tales Pack, which costs $19.99.
The Good Guy, aka Chucky from Child’s Play
Part of what I like about Chucky is that you get a third-person camera when you use him. If you’re more accustomed to that viewpoint when playing games, I find it gives one of the best edges when playing as this Dead by Daylight Killer. His ability to use Hidey-Ho to become Undetectable and move around or Scamper through pallets or windows also help, since players unfamiliar with the enemy might not expect a Killer to be able to do that. I also like how even going after Survivors who aren’t the Obsession give you bonuses, as if you hook someone else that other player’s Aura will appear and they’ll be Exposed as part of your Friends til the End perk.
To play as Chucky in Dead by Daylight, you’ll need to buy the $4.99 Chucky Chapter.
