Bayonetta Voice Actor Hints at Possible Departure From Role

Hellena Taylor, the English voice actor behind the titular protagonist of the Bayonetta series, has hinted at a possible departure from the role. When asked for further clarification, Taylor stated that she is unable to provide any details due to contractual obligations.

The news comes from Twitter, where the actress expressed gratitude towards fans of the Bayonetta franchise. However, when one user stated that they “[couldn’t] imagine Bayonetta without [Taylor’s] amazing voice” the actress responded, “Well you might have to.”

Furthermore, in response to several users expressing excitement over her possible involvement in the upcoming Bayonetta 3, the actress stated that she was “bound by confidentiality clause” and was “not at liberty to say” further details.

Since the release of Bayonetta in 2009, Taylor has voiced the character in all of its mainline titles as well appearances in other games like Super Smash Bros. and PlatinumGames’ Anarchy Reigns. She also voiced the character in the English dub of the Bayonetta: Bloody Fate animated film released in 2014.

In contrast to this, Nintendo stated in June 2021 that the development of Bayonetta 3 has been “progressing well.” Originally announced back in 2017, PlatinumGames and Nintendo have since offered little in terms of updates. PlatinumGames founder Hideki Kamiya also mentioned in early 2021 that he hoped to give fans further information within the year.

Bayonetta 3 is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch.
