People can get a better look at how certain characters will appear in Bayonetta 3, as the latest PlatinumGames blog entry showed off Jeanne, Luka, Rodin, and Enzo. Mari Shimazaki, a freelance designer who worked on all three entries in the series, shared the art. The notes also offered a little insight into what influenced each person’s look.
First, here’s the concept art looking at Jeanne in Bayonetta 3. Some of the images focus on her clothing, while others look at her accessories and makeup. When talking about Jeanne’s new look, Shimazaki pointed out the goal to make it “spy-like” to fit in with her stealth sections, and mentioned the “60s fashion” callbacks.
To show how that influenced the final character design in Bayonetta 3, here’s a look at her character model.
Next, here are the design documents used to capture Luka’s look in Bayonetta 3. The focus here is on his clothing and accessories, though you can also see how he looks without his hat. Shimazaki also noted, “This time, Luka is wearing the coat and equipment of his late treasure hunter father in an even more dignified manner.”
Here’s how Luka’s model appears in-game.
After that, Rodin’s casual style showed up. While his tattoos aren’t mapped out, the intricate details on his outfit are.
The close-ups offer a chance to see how those embellishments look on the full character model.
Shimazaki also cited how casual Enzo’s look is in Bayonetta 3, compared to how the character might normally look. The jacket highlights the baseball team’s logo.
And here’s how that outfit looks in-game.
Finally, here’s a video also showing them off and looking at the Bayonetta 3 characters’ models from different angles.
Bayonetta 3 will come to the Nintendo Switch on October 28, 2022.
