In the Famitsu New Year’s announcements, Atlus teased an announcement for a new game after the releases of the Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden ports. For reference, those two games will come out on January 19, 2023. So information on this new game will likely appear soon. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
There is no information on if the new game will be part of an existing franchise or if it will be a standalone IP. All Atlus said is that the game will be a new, unannounced title. Other than that, Atlus’s message looks back on the games it released in 2022. The majority of them are from the Shin Megami Tensei series.
During 2022, Atlus released the remastered version of P4U2, the Switch version of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, and the ports of Persona 5 Royal. For new games, it released Soul Hackers 2. Now that we are in 2023, it has officially been a little under seven years since the initial release of Persona 5, which came out in late 2016 in Japan. There is the slight possibility that, since the announcement is coming after the P3P and P4G release, the new game Atlus wants to tease has something to do with the Persona series. For reference, Persona 4 came out in 2008, eight years before Persona 5.
Atlus plans on teasing a new unannounced game some time in early 2023.
