Atlus Bringing Hammerin’ Hero To PSPs In March (Update: Media!)

This article is over 16 years old and may contain outdated information

The Atlus leaks from Play-Asia continue, this time revealing an unannounced title. Atlus picked up Ikuze Gen from Irem, a spiritual PSP follow up to the Hammerin’ Harry games. Hammerin’ Hero is a side scrolling platfomer where you whack things with a giant hammer. When Gen-san changes jobs like turning into a sushi chef he gets other weapons like a huge fish or a baseball bat when he switches to the baseball job. Hammerin’ Hero has twelve levels of smashing and an ad-hoc multiplayer mode.

One interesting note about Atlus’ version of Hammerin’ Hero is you can pick the original Japanese voiceovers or English ones. I didn’t realize Hammerin’ Hero had so much voice acting. Also, it looks like Atlus still has good ties with Irem. Hmm… I wonder if Atlus will pick up Bumpy Trot: Battle Vehicle Tournament or Disaster Report 3 in the future.

Update: Atlus sent over an official announcement confirming Hammerin’ Hero for release on March 3rd. We also got a bunch of screenshots and a teaser trailer.
