Gust shared the latest details for Atelier Lulua in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine with a look at its battle system that is based on that of Atelier Lydie & Suelle’s with new elements.
You can take up to five characters in a party for battles, with three frontline characters and two backline character. The frontline characters can directly attack the enemies while the backline characters can assist the frontline characters when they take action. Backline characters also gradually recover HP and MP
The party goes in a W formation where you can see the three frontline characters and the two backline characters on the bottom-left of the screen. You can activate special effects known as “Primal Arts” that vary based on the combination of characters in the frontline. These effects range from damage reduction to item power ups.
The frontline character action is the key that activates the backline character’s Assist Skill. There are all kinds of effects and you can have multiple Assist Skills activate at the same time. It is ideal to aim for multiple Assist Skills when you can.
“Interrupt” is a new feature usable by the alchemists when the gauge on the bottom-right of the screen fills up. It allows you to use an item at any time, regardless of the turn. Moreover, items used for Interrupt aren’t consumed.
When using an Interrupt, there are various Interrupt Skills that activates, depending on the alchemists. For example, some can add a light knockback when used during a Break, and so on.
