ASUS has revealed a couple of LAN routers with collaboration designs from Mobile Suit Gundam. Fans of the mecha franchise might want to get these routers, as they are also geared towards gaming-related connections. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]
The collaboration routers will come in two models: the four-antenna RT-AX82U with an RX-78-2 Gundam design and the vertical three-antenna RT-AX86U with Char Aznable’s MS-06S Zaku II color.
Both routers are noted to be compatible with the PlayStation 5. They can also connect to the ASUS Router mobile app to activate Mobile Game Mode that optimizes connections from mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. Note that although the special RT-AX86U model is painted with Char’s Zaku red color, its tech specs—including data rate—are entirely the same as the regular model without any triple-speed multiplier.
These routers are part of a larger collaboration between ASUS and the Gundam franchise that includes full PC sets. It even includes a GeForce RTX 3080 with a special design from Republic of Gamers and the RX-78-2 Gundam. Although there are also two different motherboards that support Wi-Fi connection, the RX-78-2 Gundam motherboard uses the Intel Z490 chipset, while the Zaku II one is based on the AMD B550.
ASUS’Â Gundam LAN routers will be available in Japan on February 5, 2021.
