If you’ve been in any of the larger arcades in Japan or Asia, you might have seen the Mobile Suit Gundam: Senjou no Kizuna arcade pods that provides an immersive first-person shooter experience of fighting in a mobile suit. At JAEPO 2020, Bandai Namco revealed a teaser trailer for a full on sequel, Mobile Suit Gundam: Senjou no Kizuna II.
Described as a ‘Mobile Suit Survival Game’, Senjou no Kizuna II is also set in the war-torn year of U.C. 0079, where the Earth Federation fights a long war against Zeon.
In the first game, the battle pod included levers and triggers that acted as the controls for the mobile suit. Up to 16 players are sorted into team battles, and must work together with their teammates to win for their side. Each round of battle would last around 2.5 minutes at a time, and the sequel is likely to be the same in this manner.
The first game originally began service in 2006, and it’s been 14 years since then. While new mechanics or features have not been revealed yet, the jump in graphical quality speaks for itself.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Senjou no Kizuna II is in development for arcades. An official Twitter page has been opened for the arcade sequel here.
