As part of the efforts to entertain people who are currently staying home during the on-going COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, Animax Broadcast Japan will be offering free broadcasting all across Japan starting April 22, 2020. People will be able to watch free anime between 6am-12pm JST until May 6, 2020. [Thanks, Game Watch!]
Animax is currently the largest 24-hour anime-only network available globally. Over its twenty-one years, it has broadcast hundreds of anime series. Some of these notable series include Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist,, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Currently, the network is also broadcasting Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and the long running mystery thriller Detective Conan.Â
During this campaign, viewers who haven’t subscribed to Animax will be able to enjoy various free anime episodes daily. Notable shows during the free service times include Natsume’s Book of Friends, Fire Force, Fairy Tail, and Haikyuu!!. Animax’s free broadcasting period will last from April 22 to May 6, 2020. As a reminder, it is also possible to watch temporarily free Evangelion movies. However, many shows are now temporarily postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and won’t be airing as usual.
