During the latest Nintendo Direct, Shigeru Miyamoto gave viewers an update revealing the upcoming animated Mario movie cast. The video also revealed the film’s release timing. The Mario movie is a collaborative effort between both Nintendo and Illumination (creators of Despicable Me). The film studio’s CEO and producer, Chris Meledandri, worked with Miyamoto on developing the Mario movie. Rather than Charles Martinet, who plays Mario and Luigi in the games, Chris Pratt and Charlie Day will voice the brothers.
As mentioned before, the two leads Mario and Princess Peach, will be voiced by Chris Pratt and Anya Taylor-Joy, respectively. Charlie Day will voice Luigi. Jack Black will play Bowser. Comedian Keegan-Michael Key will play Toad. Donkey Kong will also make an appearance in the film. Fellow comedian Seth Rogen will voice the role. Other Mario movie cast members and their roles include Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.
Charles Martinet, who has voiced Mario and many other Nintendo characters over the years, will appear in the project as well. He will play cameo roles in the movie, according to Miyamoto.
The animated Mario movie will release in North America on December 21, 2022. Nintendo will share release dates for Japan, Europe, and other regions at a later date. It’s been confirmed that it will be sometime in Holiday 2022.
