The Animal Crossing Sanrio amiibo cards were announced back in 2017. They went along with the Welcome amiibo update for Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Six cards appeared in the collection. Hereā€™s a list of the ones available and their themes.

  • Chai, a Cinnamoroll-themed elephant
  • Chelsea, a My Melody-themed deer
  • Etoile, a Little Twin Stars-themed sheep
  • Marty, a Pompompurin-themed bear
  • Rilla, a Hello Kitty-themed gorilla
  • Toby, a Keroppi-themed rabbit

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, people could use these characters to get special clothing or furniture items. (You could exchange MEOW Coupons for them.) In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, scanning the amiibo cards at the moment will give you Sanrio-themed posters. For example, the Chai card will give you a poster with K.K. Slider and Cinnamoroll. The Etoile one gives you one of the Nooklings dressed as the Little Twin Stars.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for the Nintendo Switch. Its next update will arrive in March 2021. Animal Crossing: New Leaf is available for the Nintendo 3DS. The Animal Crossing Sanrio amiibo cards will appear outside Japan in March 2021.
