Nintendo is working on a save data backup feature for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but it’ll only be available for Nintendo Switch Online members.
We learned yesterday that Animal Crossing: New Horizons won’t support save data transfer or cloud saves. But as it turns out, Nintendo appears to be working on a save data backup feature, according to the Japanese official website.
Here’s what the notice says about Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ save data backup:
“Animal Crossing: New Horizons isn’t supported by Nintendo Switch Online’s Save Data Cloud Backup. However, we’re currently considering a function to backup save data, uniquely for the software, in case one’s Nintendo Switch console itself gets damaged, lost, or stolen.
The use of this feature is limited to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. The implementation period has yet to be determined, but we’ll make an announcement as soon as a decision is made.”
The website also reaffirms that players can only create one island per console. For example, if you own two Switch consoles, you can’t get the island data from one Switch and transfer it to another.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons will release for the Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020.
