During the February 20, 2020 Animal Crossing Direct, tons of new details were provided for this spring’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Multiplayer has long been a part of Nintendo’s adorable animal commune series, but it’s naturally being expanded in this latest iteration. There are several options, one of which being a pretty hefty new local multiplayer option that can support up to four players at once.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, up to eight players can set up shop on the island. All eight players can’t play together at the same time, but thanks to a new feature called Party Play, four can roam their community at the same time. Using Party Play, one player will be set as the leader, but the leader can be changed with the press of a button. Anything followers collect will be stored in a recycle box in the Resident Services building, while the leader can do things like sell items.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons lands on the Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020.
