Animal Crossing: New Horizons is going to introduce a number of new features to the game, like placing furniture outside of homes, path creation, and crafting. However, one feature means an established character will be acting in a new role. Due to the auto-save featuring being added, Mr. Resetti will no longer appear to yell at someone for stopping without saving. (Thanks, Mashable!)

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons auto-save will kick in, apparently eliminating any issues where someone who suddenly quits would need to listen to Mr. Resetti’s lecture. However, he will still play a role in the new entry.

When speaking to Mashable, Animal Crossing: New Horizons Project Lead Aya Kyogoku made the following statement:

“I think this will be a positive thing for the player, because in New Horizons you can stop playing in the middle of your game and it’ll still save. But unfortunately because there’s no necessity to reset the game or reset button on the Switch, Mr. Resetti had a hard time. He was laid off from his position.

We also believe that Mr. Resetti is looking for a new job after his layoff. So please look forward to that.”

We’ll have to wait and see what role Resetti, and his Don Resetti, might play in the next Animal Crossing, if they aren’t chastising people about the dangers of quitting without saving or resetting.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons will come to the Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020, which also happens to be the International Day of Happiness.
