Plenty of people are turning to Animal Crossing: New Horizons for promotional means or as a way to take part in different events. Now, it turns out the KFC Philippines is using the game to promote the restaurant. It will occasionally send out Dodo codes to visit its island on its Facebook page, with people then able to see a virtual version of the restaurant and perhaps get a code for free food. [Thanks, Ungeek!]
The Animal Crossing KFC is the work of an advertising agency named Ogilvy. It used different diner-themed items and custom designs to create a full kitchen and restaurant. The custom hats are displayed to look like buckets of chicken, for example, and the partitions are signboards that show different meals and menus. The logo is even laid out in a pond, with red lilies filling in the letters.
There is also a promotion in effect if someone manages to get the Dodo code to visit the Animal Crossing KFC island. The villager there is dressed as Colonel Sanders. If someone visits, he will provide a KFC Philippines code for a free eight-piece chicken meal. This is just for the chicken, and people will have to go online and redeem it outside of the game to, well, eat it.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for the Nintendo Switch. As a reminder, there are some summer and winter solstice and seasonal items temporarily available in-game.
