An Overwatch new hero may be on the way. The official Twitter account has teased the arrival of a new playable character by recovering some of the files from a Dr. Mina Liao. In it, she says Jack, Soldier: 76, has been given her permission to work on a new project based on her “Athena prototype.” It then goes on to suggest she is working with artificial life and hoping to show people that omnics have as much right to live as anyone else.
Here is the Overwatch tease.

Given the hints and things known about the game, it could be possible that this could be alluding a specific Overwatch new hero: Echo. This character is a robot who first appeared in the short “Reunion,” which was released for Blizzcon 2018 and showed new playable character Ashe. Echo appeared again at Blizzcon 2019, when Overwatch 2 was announced and the “Zero Hour” cinematic was shared. There, it showed that she had already rejoined Overwatch.
The last Overwatch character added was Sigma. He joined the roster back in August 2019 as the thirty-first hero.
Overwatch is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A release date hasn’t been set for the new hero, but they could arrive this week.
