There’s a lot to keep track of, so even if you’ve decided you want to pre-order the expansion you may be wondering which edition is right for you. So to help you decide, here’s a run-down of all the pre-order bonuses included with each edition of World of Warcraft: The War Within.

What Pre-Order Bonuses are included in each WoW: The War Within Edition?

In total there are 3 editions of WoW: The War Within to choose from, each with different pre-order bonuses: the Basic Edition, the Heroic Edition, and the Epic Edition. All three editions will grant access to WoW: The War Within when it launches on August 26, 2024, as well as a boost that can instantly promote a character to level 70, ready to start the expansion. Depending on the edition, you will also receive a certain amount of Trader’s Tender, a currency for use in the WoW Trading Post to purchase various cosmetic items. The basic edition includes 500 Trader’s Tender, which is about enough to buy a few small items. All in all, the Basic Edition is the cheapest at $49.99.

The Heroic Edition includes everything in the Basic Edition, except you will receive 750 Trader’s Tender instead of 500. Also included is the Algarian Stormrider mount, a ghostly gryphon with gold armor that can be customized like Dragonflight‘s dragon mounts. This mount is compatible with the newly expanded Skyriding system and comes with a set of new courses for racing on. Then there’s the Stormrider’s Attire cosmetic armor set, which is promised to be upgradable and has several alternate color schemes that can be earned. This edition comes to $69.99.

Finally, the WoW: The War Within Epic edition includes all of the above pre-order bonuses and several items more. Possibly the biggest inclusion is access to The War Within Beta test and 3 days early access to the expansion proper. Blizzard does state that access and dates for these are subject to change or outages etc., but if all goes well this should mean you can play the expansion on your main account by August 23, 2024. Additionally you’ll receive 30 days of game time, a rideable Gryphon toy, an electrified Hearthstone casting effect, and a baby Gryphon pet with 3 alternate colors. The Epic Edition will set you back $89.99.

Which WoW: The War Within Edition should you Pre-Order?

Naturally, this will depend on how much you like the pre-order bonuses included with the specific WoW: The War Within edition. Access to the Beta, for example, sounds great but if you don’t have as much time to play it may not be worth it to you. It’s also worth noting that progress made in the Beta will not carry over to your main account come launch. If you want to experience the expansion fresh the first time, that might not be useful for you.

On the other hand, the 3 days of early access *may* grant you an easier time in the first few zones, which are often horribly congested with players on launch day. The included month of game time would normally cost $14.99 too, and since you would need that to play anyway you can factor that into the price. This would bring it down to $75, just 6 off from the price of the Heroic edition. Beyond that it’s all down to your taste and budget, since the other most important parts (the level boost and expansion itself) are included in the basic package.
