The Steam Deck is one of the best inventions from Valve in a long time, giving a Nintendo Switch-like experience on PC. The handheld gaming PC matches so nicely with games in the Persona series, which are synonymous with portable experiences on the PSP, PlayStation Vita, Switch, and more. But which of the Persona games are verified for the Steam Deck?
Is Persona 3 Portable Steam Deck Verified?
Persona 3 Portable is a port from the PSP with some general enhancements to the overall gameplay. Thankfully, it is verified for the Steam Deck. All you need to do is buy and download the game, and everything will immediately work for you.
There is no need to use the keyboard, a mouse, or anything else. It should automatically recognize your controls.
Is Persona 4 Golden Steam Deck Verified?
Persona 4 Golden is likewise verified for the Steam Deck, despite coming out on PC earlier than its two more recent sibling ports. This is the one on this list that I most recently played on my Steam Deck. In fact, it was the first game I bought and played when I got the Steam Deck.
It works absolutely perfect on the device and gives some classic Vita vibes in a way.
Is Persona 5 Royal Steam Deck Verified?
Persona 5 Royal is the most recent game in the series, so it is understandable that it is a bit more demanding than some of the earlier games. That said, it is also verified for the Steam Deck. You can download it right now and play through one of the best JRPGs ever made.
Better yet, since this is the PC version, you can even download mods for it, such as the awesome Nexus mod that gives you immediate access to a 100% complete save file. You can use that to jump into a New Game+ playthrough and see the exclusive boss fight and other content there.
What About Persona 5 Strikers?
Persona 5 Strikers is a bit of a complicated situation compared to the others. Currently, it is “unsupported” on the Steam Deck. You can, technically, download and play it using Proton but some users report several issues. Some of the notable problems include audio problems during cutscenes and general performance issues.
Hopefully, Atlus gets it officially supported on the Steam Deck in the near future.
