Renowned Akira manga author Katsuhiro Otomo teased he is working on a new manga title on social media. Otomo has been focusing since 2019 on the anime film adaptation of his manga Orbital Era.
The original post includes a picture depicting a drawing of Kiyoko, the leader of The Espers, a group of children with psychic powers and paranormal abilities that appear in the Akira series. One of Kiyoko’s many abilities include precognitive powers. The drawing is located in the message board at the Akira Cel Exhibition in Osaka, which ended on October 24, 2023.
Japanese text accompanies the drawing of Kiyoko, and it translates to “I saw in a dream that my manga author friend was drawing a new comic book.” Meanwhile, Otomo himself wrote a caption alongside the image that reads “Kiyoko’s precognitive dream comes true.” There are no details on what type of new manga Katsuhiro Otomo is currently working on.
