Top Gun: Maverick DLC will appear in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. Bandai Namco announced the add-ons worldwide. There are no official screenshots yet. However, the Japanese site for the movie included some additional details. [Thanks, –R on Resetera!]
The announcement in Japan referred to the DLC as the Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown – Top Gun: Maverick Aircraft Set-. It specifically mentioned the F/A-18E Super Hornet and F-14A Tomcat planes. It also mentioned a Keiki Kobayashi version of “Top Gun Anthem” as background music. (As a reminder, Kobayashi is one of the composers for Ace Combat 7.
Top Gun: Maverick is a sequel to the original movie. Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer will both return in it as Maverick and Iceman. In the new entry, Maverick is still a pilot and is new training a new generation.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown’s gotten lots of DLC in the past. For example, planes from past games appeared via add-ons. Experimental aircraft also ended up appearing in the game as well. Japan Air Self-Defense Force showed up in August 2021.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is immediately available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It passed three million copies sold in August 2021. Top Gun: Maverick will appear in theaters on May 27, 2022.
