The official X (Twitter) account for Ace Attorney Investigations has posted a new visual for Kay Faraday (Mikumo Ichijou), comparing her new sprite with the old pixel model. It will show a new one every day for a week to let players check out how the game will look on a more modern console.
As a reminder, players will have the option to switch between the “classic” pixel art and the “modern” sprites. The animations will look the same. We can see in today’s post how Kay’s movements where she swings back and forth and then punches the air twice with her right fist are the same between the old and new sprites.
Ace Attorney Investigations, or Gyakuten Kenji in the original Japanese, was a spin-off of the mainline Ace Attorney series that let you play as Edgeworth. Unlike in the main games (as well as other spin-offs like The Great Ace Attorney or the crossover game with Professor Layton), you were able to walk around the map and investigate that way. That’s why everyone has a full 2D model, complete with animations.
Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is in development for the PS4, Xbox One, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch and will come out on September 6, 2024. This collection will be the first time that those outside of Japan can legally and officially play the second title in the series.
