Hungry for a R-Type Command sequel? On October 27 Irem is going to serve R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate to Japanese retailers.
The sequel has the force of Earth, Bydo Empire, and Granzela army locked in a hex grid war. Gameplay looks similar to the previous game with the added 3D cutscenes shown in this trailer.
In addition to releasing R-Type Tactics II in stores, Irem is preparing a downloadable version scheduled to come out on the same day. A boxed copy costs 5,040 yen ($53) while the downloadable release goes for 3,800 yen ($40).
It’s too early for news about an international release, but Atlus has been localizing lots of Irem games lately. The only thing that might not make it over is the subtitle. Operation Bitter Chocolate, the R-Type sweets April Fool’s Joke, heroes named after bakery goods… Irem has a strange obsession with food.
