Taito developed the original Graffiti Kingdom game, known as Rakugaki Kingdom in Japan, and it was announced in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine that they’re making a new game for smartphones this winter in Japan. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089.]
The new Graffiti Kingdom game introduces a new graffiti system that allows your drawings to turn into 3D characters. There’s an Artisan Mode that lets you make characters from scratch, but for beginners there’s a Simple Mode that does it for you.
You can make characters have a bunch of abilities, take on story battles, versus battles against other players, or partake in 3v3 turn-based battle. As for other features, you’ll get to download drawings from other players or upload your own. There’s also a ranking system.
As for staff, the game features Yoichi Shimosato as the producer, Sousou as the character designer, Ken Shimomura of Chain Chronicle for the scenario, and Atelier series composer Yuu Shimota of Zuntata as the sound composer.
Several characters with well-known voice talents was revealed, including Miyuki Sawashiro, Masako Nozawa, Toshio Furukawa, and many others.
We can expect to see more from an official livestream starting July 18, 2019, which will feature Miyuki Sawashiro and Naomi Ohzora. A teaser site is also expected to show more in one more day.
Graffiti Kingdom releases for iOS and Android this winter in Japan. The original Graffiti Kingdom game released in Japan in September 2004 for the PlayStation 2, featuring music by Yasunori Mitsuda.
