A New Crayon Shin-chan Switch Game Will Appear This Summer

The Japanese Nintendo Direct for February 2021 revealed a new Crayon Shin-chan game for the Nintendo Switch. Officially titled Crayon Shin-chan: Ora to Hakase no Natsu Yasumi – Owaranai Nanokakan no Tabi, the subtitle can be translated to “Me and the Professor’s Summer Holiday – The Endless Seven-Day Trip.”

Players will control Shin-chan, series’ protagonist also known as Shinnosuke Nohara. The Nohara family will spend a summer holiday in Kyushu for seven days. Shin-chan will be able to do various things like fish, catch bugs, and interact with local people—including children that look similar to Shin-chan’s schoolmates. He will record his findings in a diary to make the vacation more memorable.

It is rare for the Crayon Shin-chan games to receive an official localization, although at least one of the Game Boy Advance games did receive an English fan translation. [Update: We also learned that a Shin-chan action game for Nintendo Switch, titled The Storm Called Flaming Kasukabe Runner!!, did receive a North American release in January 2020.] As this game was only shown during the Japanese Direct, we have yet to hear about any potential localization.
