GungHo is trying something new with the Ragnarok Online series by changing the online game into a PSP strategy RPG. Ragnarok: The Imperial Princess of Light and Dark will have fourteen different jobs based on the existing classes.
Famitsu revealed three of them in their look at Ragnarok: The Imperial Princess of Light and Dark.
Lord Knights (left) are equipped with a two-handed knight sword and an arsenal of attack skills. This class is said to have an excellent balance between offense and defense. High Wizards (center) are a specialist that can control the four elements: wind, water, fire, and earth. Using their overwhelmingly strong magic power, this class attacks from afar. Mastering mind and body, Champions (right) are the Monk class in Ragnarok: The Imperial Princess of Light and Dark. This group uses claws and chi arts to fight.
Torene, a 34 year old mercenary famous for defeating monsters, is a Champion. No matter what the situation is Torene believes in moving forward his way. This is one of the reasons other character look up to him like a big brother. Cynthia is a strong willed girl from a noble family. At 17 years old, she is already a High Wizard and searching for monsters to fight. When Cynthia runs into the protagonist, Torene, and Yuri there is some hostility before they become friends. While monsters are attacking a fortress, Yuri runs into the protagonist, Torene, and Cynthia. He’s a 19 year old Lord Knight. Adelaide is the imperial princess in the title. As the only daughter of King Bernard the Third, she was raised with great care. Pure of heart and meek, Adelaide is able to sense evil auras in her nearby surroundings.
Two techniques in Ragnarok: The Imperial Princess of Light and Dark were explained too. You can chain special attacks together after triggering an overdrive. This move is tied to a gauge like a super meter and can only be used when it is full. Overdrives are said to have tremendous power. It’s possible to link attacks with other characters too using a Burst Strike. This attack has its own gauge and details on how it works will be announced at a later date.
Ragnarok: The Imperial Princess of Light and Dark is slated for a spring release on PSP.
