Square Enix announced on social media that it will end service for Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia on February 29, 2024. The mobile game first launched on February 1, 2017 in Japan and will be shut down after seven years. It launched globally in January 2018.
In the official announcement about DFFOO‘s end og service, the development team stated that they were finding it difficult to provide services that would please their customers in the future. This prompted the decision to end its service in 2024.
Despite the announcement, there are multiple events planned for DFFOO coming out during its last few months. The following events will occur in the Global version of DFFOO:
- November 29, 2023, to February 29, 2024: Special Daily Draws and Title Draws.
- November 29, 2023, to February 29, 2024: Cactuar Cacophony and Dare to Defy: Astraeus
- November 29, 2023, to January 1, 2024: Dusk to Dawn: Evil Gazes at Dusk
- January 1, 2024, to February 29, 2024: Dare to Defy: Nyx
- January 1, 2024, to February 1, 2024: Dusk to Dawn: Ogres Parade the Night
- January 31, 2024, to February 29, 2024: 6th Anniversary Special 50+1 Draw
- February 1, 2024, to February 29, 2024: Dare to Defy: Eos
- February 1, 2024, to February 29, 2024: Dusk to Dawn: Soul Caged by Dawn
As of November 29, 2023, all sales of Gems will end. Any Gems currently owned will be available until the end of the game’s service. If a player has an insufficient amount of Gems for gacha draws, it will direct to the purchase screen, but the ability to purchase Gems will not work.
At the the end of DFFOO‘s service, any paid unused in-game currency will be refunded to the players in Japan. Details about refund will be available at a later date via the official website and the official support center for DFFOO. Square Enix recommends that Japanese players seeking to have their paid unused in-game currency do not delete the app until after the refund has been issued.
Dissidia FFOO recently added Angeal from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII to the game as a playable character.
Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia is currently free-to-play on iOS and Android devices, but Square Enix will be ending its service on February 29, 2024.
