3. Lockwood 680

Coming in last place but still a worthy option for certain players is by far the most traditional shotgun of them all, the Lockwood 680. It is your basic 12-gauge pump shotgun and is quite slow to fire but deals intense damage. While not the best in the game, the Lockwood 680 will still blast enemies off the map in just a few shots.

It isn’t a bad weapon by any means, but it limits itself with its low speed and accuracy stats. It can be quite useful with the right attachments, though. Most players looking for a valuable shotgun up close should look elsewhere.

2. Riveter

The Riveter is on the opposite end of the spectrum from the Lockwood regarding the best shotguns in MW3. It opts for a unique assault rifle-like base. This makes it quite fast-firing for a weapon of this class but a bit inaccurate. Its decent range makes it an interesting weapon overall.

You can make up for its weakness in accuracy with attachments or even give it further range. With customization, you can essentially make it a mid-range shotgun with the right build.

1. Haymaker

The best shotgun in MW3 is the Haymaker, which features a mix of stats between the other two weapons on this list. It is highly modular and has the damage and recoil control of the Lockwood but the range and fire rate like the Riveter.

The Haymaker gets even better with the right attachments, which can increase its range, accuracy, and even fire rate for up-close combat. This versatility makes it more powerful and more useful for a wider range of players.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
