The giant monster is a mandatory boss you need to slay in order to acquire important quest items. The boss also needs to be defeated to access the Upper Calrath area as well. Here is your guide to defeating the Spurned Progeny in Lords of the Fallen

Where to find the Spurned Progeny in Lords of the Fallen

The Spurned Progeny in Lords of the Fallen is found after you have cleared the Lower Calrath region and have reached Upper Calrath. The closest Vestige is the Vestige of Blind Agatha. The shortcut requires you to explore and battle through the burning city before kicking down a ladder to the left of the Vestige. Ascend this ladder and climb the tower directly ahead. In this section, you must phase in and out of the Umbral Realm to pass through various doors and ladders.

At the peak of this tower is a road leading directly to the arena. Right before the entrance, you will find an Umbral Flowerbed. As this is one of the most challenging boss fights in the entire game, placing a Vestige Seed here is highly recommended.

How to defeat Spurned Progeny Phase One in Lords of the Fallen

Now that you’ve found Spured Porgeny, you will need to be prepared to face him. Despite his imposing size, he is surprisingly quick. This is his simpler phase, so he has a limited move set here.

  • Sit Down: The Spurned Progeny straightens out before slamming his behind on the ground. Once you see this, roll to the side of his back.
  • Slash: The Progeny raises his claw and slashes in front of him. Dodge away when you see him winding up.
  • Homing Explosions: An area around the Progeny will glow before a short-range explosion bursts. These are small and easy to dodge.

How to defeat Spurned Progeny Phase Two in Lords of the Fallen

After the Spurned Progeny loses about a third of his health, he will stand still for a few seconds. Afterward, he vomits magma onto the arena floor, turning it into a molten pit. You must ascend to the ring of four connected terraces around the arena to avoid being burned. You are now in a smaller arena with fewer opportunities to attack. During this phase, he also has a different set of attacks.

  • Slam: The progeny winds up his arm and slams the ground in front of him. This one is fairly easy to see coming and dodge.
  • Mouth Arm: A third arm will emerge from the Progeny’s mouth. It will launch forward three times before stopping. As this is a narrow but fast attack, dodge to the side when you see it coming.
  • Magma Rain: The Progeny will outstretch his mouth-arm into the middle of the arena and charge a fiery spell. After a long delay, he will rain fire onto the current terrace. The terrace will be rendered uninhabitable for a considerable duration.
  • Homing Explosions: The same as in phase one, the only difference being that they are on a smaller arena.

  • Fiery Slam: He unleashes his third arm and slams it onto the ground. This unleashes a damaging shockwave across the terrace. You will need to roll over this to avoid damage.

  • Spirit Bomb: His most devastating attack is where he releases his third arm and raises it up. He will essentially charge a fiery “Spirit Bomb” that deals devastating damage across the entire arena. The only way to dodge this is by hiding behind one of the large walls in between the four terraces. While it deals massive damage, it gives you more than ample time to take cover.

Best strategy for defeating the Spurned Progeny in Lords of the Fallen

While this is obviously an imposing boss fight, knowing his attack pattern will help slay this colossus. His first phase is pretty simple as you only need to hug his legs long enough to get him down to a third of his health.

However, you will need to know when to attack during phase two of the battle. You cannot hit him without ranged weapons or spells unless the Progeny comes close to you. The best time to go in to attack is when he uses his slam attack or finishes his third-arm attack. Eventually, the lava on the ground will vanish, leaving him vulnerable again. Whenever he burns a terrace using his lava rain, you have to move to the next one to continue the fight.

After you defeat him, he will drop a hefty amount of Vigor and two quest items, the Giant Eyeball and the Flesh of the Spurned Progeny. The Giant Eyeball is a key item in the quest of the Tortured Prisoner. The Flesh of the Spurned Progeny is part of Damarose’s quest.

Lords of the Fallen is available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
