Square Enix released 6.5 for Final Fantasy XIV and, in so doing, added new items for players to collect like the FFXIV Athletikos Cloth. This new material item is hard to acquire in the game, but it allows the player to create some of the finest glamour gear available currently. There are two main ways to get this material in the MMO.
How do I get Athletikos Cloth in FFXIV?
First, I find the quickest but most expensive way to get FFXIV Athletikos Cloth is to buy it directly from other players on the Market Board. All you need to do is head on over to the nearest board, search for the item, and instantly purchase it using your Gil. The only problem with this method is how much it can cost.
As endgame material item, you’ll be lucky if you can buy it for a couple of million Gil at the cheapest. It will go down in cost over time, but some of its use and value will wear off by then as well.
The other way you can get the Athletikos Cloth is through treasure maps. More specifically, you’ll want to use the Timeworn Ophiotauroskin Maps. These are grade 15 maps, which don’t cost a ton each on the Market Board. Unfortunately, the rewards you are able to get from these boss dungeon-like experiences are random, so it can take a few maps to find the cloth.
I recommend assembling a party of up to eight players, if possible, to speed up the grinding process for this cloth and maximize rewards for everyone. There is a chance the cloth is available through the Timeworn Kumbhiraskin Maps, but it is likely a lower chance there given its lower grade, so I wouldn’t risk trying with those.
What can I make with Athletikos Cloth in FFXIV?
There are four items you can make at this time with the Athletikos Cloth. They are all part of the Martial Artist line and require the Master Recipe 10 book for either Weaver or Leatherworker, depending on the item.
- Martial Artist’s Pumps: Level 90 Leatherworker 4-star recipe
- Martial Artist’s Sleeveless Vest: Level 90 Weaver 4-star recipe
- Martial Artist’s Slops: Level 90 Weaver 4-star recipe
- Vest (Martial Artist): Level 90 Weaver 4-star recipe
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC. It will also release for the Xbox Series X/S in Spring 2024.
