Starfield features a robust outpost system which lets you create your own base, but you’ll need some structural materials to do so. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t exactly tell you where to find these materials, which makes this one of the most annoying systems in the game. Fortunately, I am here to help you out.
Where to Find Starfield Structural Materials
The Starfield structural materials are a common organic resource known for its crafting prowess. You use these in a variety of crafting recipes including various building modules you can use to customize your base. There are a couple of ways to get this special material type.
First off, the easiest way to get these materials is by buying them directly from sellers. At this time, I have found only two sellers who typically have them for sale. Those two sellers are the Jemison Mercantile store on New Atlantis and Shepard’s General Store in Akila City.
Unfortunately, there is a bit of RNG involved with this situation. They usually sell a handful of structural materials but they aren’t guaranteed to always be there. If you happen to not see them when you go to these sellers, wait or sleep for 24-48 hours in-game and then try again.
The other way to get the materials is to farm for them yourself. How you do this is by visiting various planets and surveying the flora there. Some of the plants will note they offer structural materials as a reward. Then you only need to farm them to get these materials.
You can even set up your outpost to do this farming method for you and get these valuable materials, but you’ll need some to get started. For most players, buying them from the two known sellers is the best way to begin.
Starfield is available for the Xbox Series X/S and PC.
