Best Planet for a Starfield Outpost Location

There are more than 1,000 planets to explore and traverse in Starfield. That means there are hundreds and thousands of potential spots for you to build an outpost base. As such, there are tons of planet options for building your Starfield outpost, so which are the best ones?

Best Early Planets for a Starfield Outpost Location

I divided up this list between a couple of options, because every player is different and looking for different features on the planet they build their outpost. When it comes to those early Starfield planets that are best for outposts, there are a few options I like:

  • Earth
  • Jemison
  • Akila

Earth is a unique one for nostalgia sake, but you can build an outpost here. Heck, you can be like me and find your approximate home location in the world and build an outpost there. Just know that it won’t be exactly how you remember it.

Jemison and Akila are both rich in resources and wildlife. In addition, they are near major cities like New Atlantis and Akila City, respectively. Yes, you can set up an outpost only a few hundred meters from the city like I did and have access to all the luxuries of the 24th century.

Best Endgame Planets for a Starfield Outpost Location

If you are a late-game player, as in someone who has unlocked most, if not all, of the ranks for the Planetary Habitation skill, here are the planets I recommend:

  • The Moon (Luna)
  • Volii Alpha
  • Titan (Moon of Saturn)

Luna, the moon of Earth, is another nostalgic place to build an outpost with its nice resources. I really appreciate Volii Alpha for similar reasons, as it is home to the city of Neon. Titan, the moon of Saturn, is one of the best spots if you build an outpost near New Homestead.

In the end, though, you can’t go wrong with any planet in the galaxy. If you find a place you really like, there is no one telling you can’t build an outpost there. Feel free to find a beautiful planet, resource-heavy planet, or even one with lots of people to build on. And, yeah, build an outpost on Pluto if you want.

Starfield is available for the Xbox Series X and PC.
