Starfield First Contact Mission Guide

One of the most fascinating side quests, and one of my personal favorites in Starfield, has to do with the crew of the ESC Constant. The “First Contact” side quest in Starfield is one of the most unique, as it explores a unique group of people in the galaxy. But what should you do with them in the end?

What Should You Do With the ESC Constant in Starfield?

To start the “First Contact” quest in Starfield, you need to visit the Porrima System. Specifically, go to Porrima II. Once you arrive here, you’ll find about a strange ship that is in orbit around the planet that no one is able to contact.

What you want to do is dock with the ESC Constant ship to begin this quest. While I won’t spoil everything here, you find out that this ship has been traveling for 200 years in hopes of settling on a new habitable planet, and that destination is none other than Porrima II.

Head to the planet below, and the people of the city of Paradiso will only allow them to settle there if they are pretty much their servants in a way. As such, you are left with three options to deal with the ESC Constant crew in the First Contact quest. You can let them settle the planet, but they have to work as servants. You can destroy them. Finally, you can help them find a new planet to settle.

Of these options, the first one is the worst. I also don’t agree with destroying these people, as they are innocent, but this is the fastest resolution. Instead, the best option is the third one, and that is to help them find a new home.

Go to the town of HopeTown. You’ll have to pay 40,000 credits to get them a grav drive to jump to a new planet. Alternatively, you can persuade the HopeTech trader to sell it to you for 25,000 credits, which is still a fair sum.

You can leave this quest here until you’ve earned that amount and then buy the grav drive to then bring back to the people of the ESC Constant to complete this quest. This is the best option of the three, and you still get some solid rewards this way.
