Sea of Stars accessibility features involve an array of Relics you can acquire and turn on to adjust the gameplay experience. Everyone begins with the Amulet of Storytelling that completely heals the party after every fight and a Sequent Flare that lets you see a “star flare” when you get the timing right on a block or hit during a fight. However, you can eventually find more either by buying them, getting them after getting Rainbow Conches and accomplishing fishing milestones, or reaching certain places. You may find some suit your gameplay styles best, with all of these Sea of Stars Relics worth looking out for as you play.
What are some of the best Sea of Stars Relics
Well, to be honest, the Amulet of Storytelling and Sequent Flare Relics you start out with in Sea of Stars are two of the best ones off the bat. Sequent Flare is especially good if you want to properly learn the timing to execute moves. I left it on for the whole game. Amulet of Storytelling is good even if you want to challenge yourself, as it can be great for an assist if you’re running out of food in an area and want a quick heal for everyone. Just turn it on once to heal, then turn it off when everyone is better.
All of the improved fishing Relics are also quite a boon. However, you can’t access them right away, even though you’ll likely have caught the number of unique species needed to unlock them before you ever gain access. That’s because they’re acquired once you get to Mirth and gave Jirard the building plans Mirna at Lake Docarria gives you in exchange for Rainbow Conches. Specifically, you need to get the Fishing Hut for 22 Rainbow Conches, then go to Mooncradle and talk with the fisherman to get him to run it. If you catch 14 different types of fish, then when you unlock this shop you’ll be able to get the Bearing Reel, Mithreel Rod, and Stereofilament Line to increase the speed at which you reel fish in, make fish run out of stamina faster, and make the line stronger before it breaks. The line Relic only requires four fish, the reel needs 9, and the rod needs 14.
If you want the game to be easier, then there are a number of Sea of Stars Relics I found in Brisk that help. The Adamant Shard for 15G eliminates the need to press an extra button for that perfect hit for an attack, but reduces the damage from the second hit. The 15G Sixth Sense makes it so there’s a 35% chance characters will automatically block without you needing to time a button press to reduce damage. The 45G Truestrike Pendant makes it so any enemy with a lock isn’t also defending and taking less damage. The 15G Guardian Aura reduces all damage by 30%.
If you got the Trader’s Signet from the Stonemason’s Outpost Wind Tunnels Mines, you can get some Relics that make Sea of Stars harder at the Brisk Hidden Market under the southwest dock. In particular, you want the 150G Dubious Dare that increases damage taken by 40% and the 150G Double Edge that increases an enemy’s defense when their lock is present and decreases it when it’s not.
Finally, there’s The Artful Gambit Relic. This is one for people who really want to test themselves. However, you can only get this relic after you get through the game and can go through Serai’s The Cerulean Expedition and reach Throne of the Queen That Was. It is a lot of work. However, if people want to test themselves, equipping it reduces your party’s health by 95%. It also makes a successfully timed hit deal twice as much damage and a perfect block reduce damage to 1. Turning it on does also mean that enemies with locks casting a special attack or spell won’t take any damage.
Sea of Stars is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
