How to Get Wings in Fae Farm

A lot of the Fae Farm marketing and imagery shows players with avatars that have wings. However, when the game begins, you’re just an ordinary, wingless human. This is because the items, which function as a double jump ability, are initially locked behind a story quest. You need to get through the first few chapters of the game, then complete a quest, before you earn your pair.

One of the first story quests in Fae Farm chapter 4 is to visit the Wisp Mother and learn how to acquire some wings. This basically happens the day after you complete the chapter 3 quest new Vortex spell to clear the blockade under the arch to her home just above your homestead, you can meet her and get the “Raising Expectations” quest.

There are three parts to “Raising Expectations,” and you might have already accomplished two of them by the time you get this quest. You need to have a Lowlands Critter Conservatory built on your farm. You also need to have collected three of the butterflies flying around in spring, say the Peacock Butterflies, and left them there to turn them into Flutter Dust. Finally, you take those three Flutter Dusts to Wisp Mother to get a pair of Orange Wings. I’d already built this conservatory and deposited butterflies before. The game immediately registered the first one, and the second triggered after a few minutes so I didn’t need to find and deposit more butterflies.

Once you get your wings, the Wisp Mother also opens an Azoria’s Treasury shop. In addition to some extra color palettes, you can trade polished gems, different sorts of flowers, and Flutter Dust for different sorts of wings to change your appearance.

As for using your new wings in Fae Farm, all you need to do is press the jump button a second time after you jump. You’ll then catch more air and be able to float a bit farther.

Fae Farm is available for the Nintendo Switch and PC.
