Square Enix used the official Final Fantasy VII Remake Twitter account to show off a real-life recreation of the outfit Rufus wears. The tweet also included insight into the costume design of this particular outfit. It was described as being the most difficult outfit to picture the structure of, what with its heavy use of embellishments, accessories, and pockets.
Square Enix noted that in order for the recreation to be successful, small details such as the position of each pocket, as well as the size of the collar itself, had to be fine-tuned many times over. The Final Fantasy VII Remake Rufus outfit was described as having more details and decorations than other characters’ in the game. The entire recreation is made up of seven layers, which includes the undershirt, belts, gloves, more belts, the necktie, hakama-style pants, and then the jacket on top of everything.

Rufus is an antagonist in Final Fantasy VII Remake. Being the vice president of Shinra and son of the president himself, he opts to wear a battle-ready ensemble that allows easy movement through a western-style hakama in the lower half. The traditional Japanese hakama is worn by both men and women, and they were introduced as a means of allowing easier movement compared to more standard, traditional Japanese clothing.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is available worldwide on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. The sequel, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, is set to release worldwide in early 2024.
