Jatheira is one of the trickier party members to get in Baldur’s Gate 3, due to the problems surrounding her character. She is one of the main characters in Act 2, leading the Last Light Inn and her Harper army as they try to take on the Moonrise Towers.

As such, there are quite a few ways she can die or turn her back on you throughout the course of Act 2. For instance, if you fail to save Isobel, the curse of the shadow lands will envelop the inn and kill Jatheira alongside everyone else.

At the same time, if Shadowheart chooses to kill the Nightsong following your completion of the Gauntlet of Shar puzzle, you’ll also miss out on Jatheira joining your party.

So long as you avoid these numerous ill fates, Jatheira will offer to join your temporarily when you assault Moonrise Towers to take down General Thorm for good.

Keep her alive during this climactic battle and she will automatically join you at your camp as a permanent party member heading into Act 3. From that point forward, you’ll have the option to both romance her no matter who or what your character is and dive deeper into her story with her companion quest. She is also essential if you want to recruit her pal and fellow returning character Minsc later on in Act 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for PCs and will release for the PS5 on September 6, 2023.
