Hydro Characters in Genshin Impact use water as a means of protection and attack, and there are quite a few to take into account. Especially as new characters are added almost every update. Also, given Fontaine is a water region with a Hydro Archon, we’re sure to see more throughout 4.0.

All Playable Hydro Characters in Genshin Impact

At the moment, there are nine different playable Hydro characters in Genshin Impact. Some are more rarer than others, but everyone will make sure that the enemy receives a good bath before being inevitably sent to oblivion.

Barbara

Rarity: 4-Star

Weapon: Catalyst

The youngest sister of Acting Grand Master Jean, Barbara is the deaconess of the Church of Favonius. While she may lack base DMG and HP, she is a very decent support by having more than decent healing capabilities. You can get her on all Standard Wish Banners except for Beginner’s Wish, from the Starglitter Exchange, and is the reward for completing the Archon quest called “A Long Shot” and having an Adventure rank of at least 18 (Baptism of Song event).

Candance

Rarity: 4-Star

Weapon: Polearm

Both the Guardian of Aaru Village and the scion of Al-Ahmar, Candance is all about Elemental prowess, possessing great attack mitigation abilities as well as a great damage output thanks to her Elemental Burst. You can get her on all Standard Wish Banners except for Beginner’s Wish.

Kamisato Ayato

Rarity: 5-Star

Weapon: Sword

The head of the Kamisato Clan, Kamisato Ayato possesses great single and AoE hydro attacks that will continuously damage the enemy. His AoE attacks can be sustained for quite a long time, and he can also offer supporting “fire” through his Elemental Burst, making him one of the best Hydro Characters in Genshin Impact. Unfortunately, there is no way to get him at the moment, with the last banner rerun for Kamisato Ayato being available during Phase 2 of Version 3.3.

Mona

Rarity: 5-Star

Weapon: Catalyst

Making Mondstadt her home, Mona is a very skilled astrologist and a great damage dealer. What she lacks in base HP and DEF she certainly compensates in speed and DMG output thanks to her Elemental Burst. She is permanently available for you to pick up through Limited and Standard Wish Banners.

Nilou

Rarity: 5-Star

Weapon: Sword

Nilou is a very gifted and skilled dancer from the Zubayr Theater. She can apply various debuffs to the enemy and turn Dendro Cores into Bountiful Cores, dealing great amounts of damage to enemy groups. All while keeping the beat and dancing masterfully. She is not available at the moment, with her last and first rerun ending in May 2023. You can expect her to be back soon.

Sangonomiya Kokomi

Rarity: 5-Star

Weapon: Catalyst

Kokomi is Watatsumi Island’s Divine Priestess as well as a descendant of the Sangonomiya Clan. She has a great balance between damage output and healing capabilities, oftentimes complementing each other. Moreover, you can get her right now from her rerun banner until August 15, 2023. Just make sure to equip her with the best weapon and you’ll have a very skilled Hydro Character in Genshin Impact at your disposal.

Tartaglia (Childe)

Rarity: 5-Star

Weapon: Bow

The Eleventh Harbinger of the Eleven Fatui Harbingres, Tartaglia is a force to be reckoned with. While sporting a bow as his main weapon, he also has very decent melee capabilities. Not only that, but dealing with enemy groups is his specialty, gaining DMG output. His rerun banner is currently inactive, with the last rerun ending in December 2022.

Xingqiu

Weapon: Sword

While he mischievously proclaims to practice Guhua Clan’s arts, Xingqiou is the son of the Feiyun Commerce Guild’s guild manager. His Elemental Skill provides both Elemental Particles and DMG reduction, but his normal attacks lack DMG. You can get him by pulling him from any Standard Wish Banner except for Beginner’s Wish.

Yelan

Rarity: 5-Star

Weapon: Bow

The last entry on our list is a mystery. Yelan, if that is indeed her name, insists that she works for the Ministry of Civil Affairs. However, we are still to find strong evidence to back this up. The same thing happens with the Yanshang Teahouse and the Ningguang. She is a go-to Sub-DPS character, being able to deal AoE damage and Hydro DMG thanks to her Elemental Burst. However, there is no way to get her at the moment, with Yelan’s banner lasting the majority of February 2023.

And that’s all the Hydro Characters in Genshin Impact so far. Some of them are available right now, and some will require people to wait for five-star reruns. Be sure to be on the lookout for when their respective banners make a new rerun and keep trying water as your main source of damage output.
