Best Baldur’s Gate III Party Comps

Baldur’s Gate III allows players to not only craft their own unique player character (if they want), but you can choose who to bring along with you for the journey as well. With 10 different party members to choose from, it can make it a bit tough to come up with best Baldur’s Gate III party comps and builds.

Players should note that you are only able to have up to four party members in a group at once. This includes both your character and other players you invite into your lobby. That said, you can balloon that number some with familiars, pets, undead armies, and the like.

But with the core four characters in mind in a party, here are the best party comps and builds I recommend for players in Baldur’s Gate III, depending on what class you play.

Overall Best Party

For those of you who are more melee-specific players, such as Fighters or Paladins, or just someone who wants the generally best party around. This is the overall best party composition you can make:

  • You (player character)
  • Astarion
  • Gale
  • Shadowheart

This is the party I generally use myself in the game, even as a Sorcerer/Cleric. What makes this party so great is you cover most of your bases. Astarion is a great Rogue who can sneak up and deal melee damage, Shadowheart is the right mix of healer and melee warrior, and Gale has your back from afar.

Best Party for Mages in BG3

For those of you who play a magical or ranged character and need a solid party, try this one:

  • Your player character
  • Astarion
  • Karlach or Lae’zel
  • Shadowheart

This is a much more melee-focused group to complement your ranged efforts.

Best Party for Healers and Clerics in BG3

If you happen to be a healer yourself, this is the best party we recommend:

  • Your player character
  • Astarion
  • Halsin
  • Karlach

You get a nice balance of offensive users, both ranged and melee.

Best Party for Rogues, Bards, and Others in BG3

Lastly, this party build is for the squishier Rogues and support characters like Bards:

  • Your player character
  • Gale or Wyll
  • Halsin
  • Shadowheart

This is a versatile group that can work well with various types of classes, especially ranged non-magically-focused ones.

Baldur’s Gate III is available for the PC and will release for PS5 on September 6, 2023.
