In Final Fantasy XIV, emotes are just one of the many ways for players to express themselves. One of the more popular ones is Play Dead. Here’s how to get the Play Dead emote in FFXIV using the Ballroom Etiquette – A Fitting End book.
How do I get the Play Dead emote in FFXIV?
The only way to obtain the Play Dead Emote in FFXIV is by purchasing it via the Final Fantasy XIV Online Store. It isn’t unlockable via regular gameplay, so if you want to add the comical action to your account, you’ll have to spend your real-life Gil.
Play Dead costs $7/£4.03/¥770 on the FFXIV Online Store. Once you’ve purchased it, you’ll receive the Ballroom Etiquette – A Fitting End book in your in-game mail. Visit a Delivery Moogle to claim it. It may take a few minutes to come through, depending on how busy the servers are.
With the Ballroom Etiquette – A Fitting End book in hand, open your Inventory, click on the item, and select ‘Use.’ This will unlock the Play Dead Emote on your FFXIV character, where you can add it to your hotbar in the Emotes menu under the Social tab of the main menu. Note that it isn’t account-wide like purchasable mounts, so you will need to buy it again if you want to unlock the Emote on another character.
Final Fantasy XIV is available to play now on the PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 and is coming to Xbox Series X in Spring 2024. A paid subscription is required.
