How to Unlock the Gunslinger Archetype in Remnant 2

Those who preordered Remnant 2 will have the option to start as the Gunslinger archetype, a damage-focused class with buffs to reloading and ammo conservation. But if you didn’t preorder or choose the class to start with, don’t worry. There is a way to unlock it normally.

How to unlock the Gunslinger Archetype in Remnant 2.

To get the Gunslinger Archetype in Remnant 2, talk to Mudtooth, the vendor in Ward 13 who sells concoctions as well as the class item for the Handler. The way to get the item from him is by listening to all of his stories, and I do mean all of them. After waking him up and asking about himself, you’ll get the option to ask him to tell you a story. You can skip through Mudooth’s dialogue, you don’t have to actually read or listen to all of it, though you might have to wake him up again half-way through. Those that do choose to listen will not only get a pretty delightful voice performance, but also several callbacks to Remnant: From the Ashes and even Chronos: Before the Ashes.

Eventually, Mudtooth will run out of stories to tell and give you a useful item called the Gunslinger’s Ring. This is a nice bonus, but not quite what we need. What you’ll need to do now is play more of the main story until you have completed at least two worlds and handed in the key items to your benefactor in the Labyrinth. Doing so will give Mudtooth time to collect, or perhaps remember, some more stories, and after listening to all of those he will give you not just the Gunslinger class item for the Remnant 2 Archetype, but a useful necklace too. Take that charm to Wallace the mystic with enough scrap and crystals, and you’ll unlock yourself the Gunslinger class for you and all your future characters.

Remnant 2 will launch on July 25, 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. An early access period started on July 21, 2023 for owners of the Ultimate edition.
