Beating Echo of War: Phantylia the Undying in Honkai: Star Rail Can Be Easy

Upon finishing the main story of Honkai: Star Rail Version 1.2, you will gain access to a new Echo of War: Phantylia the Undying. This new weekly boss drops Regret of Infinite Ochema, which is a new Trace Material, along with the usual Light Cones and Relics. Despite how impressive Phantylia looks and sounds, you can easily subjugate her so long as you have the right characters.

Where is Echo of War: Phantylia the Undying in Honkai: Star Rail?

At the very west corner of the map in Scalegorge Waterscape in the Xianzhou Luofu, you’ll find Phantylia. Note that you have to first finish the “A Dragon Gallant, Its Ocean Distant” Trailblaze Mission. Otherwise, Phantylia will not appear on the map for you

What does Phantylia do in her boss fight in Honkai: Star Rail?

Phantylia is weak to Wind, Lightning, and Imaginary. Every phase, she’ll have lotuses with her, with varying effects each phase.

  • Phase 1: Abundance Lotuses sap your Skill Points and self-heal. They will return Skill Points to you when you kill them.
  • Phase 2: Destruction Lotuses can inflict Prana-Siphon, which decreases the max recoverable HP of your character for two turns. It can also enter the Bloom state, in which it will use Havoc its next turn. Havoc deals damage based on your character’s Max HP and is not affected by DEF.
  • Phase 3: Both Abundance and Destruction Lotuses exist on the field.

Phantylia herself can deal both single-target and AoE damage, with her single-target attack delaying a character’s next turn.

Who should you bring to Echo of War: Phantylia the Undying?

Because of the lotuses, it’s more efficient to bring AoE DPS characters so you don’t waste turns hard-focusing on the lotuses rather than Phantylia herself. It’s obviously best to bring Wind, Lightning, or Imaginary characters. But if you’re lacking in one of those elements to Break her, you can use Dan Heng: Imbibitor Lunae’s follow-up attack during the battle to deal Imaginary damage. This is similar to the Preservation follow-up attack in the Cocolia boss fight so you have to charge it first.

Characters you can consider are:

  • Imaginary: Luocha, Welt
  • Lightning: Jing Yuan, Serval
  • Wind: Bronya, Blade

You can also bring shielders like Gepard and March 7th to protect yourself from Phantylia’s attacks. She gets particularly aggressive in her third phase and whips out a nasty AoE in her second phase as well. I highly recommend bringing characters who can cleanse, such as March or Bronya, to play it safe against Prana-Siphon. As well, Abundance Lotuses aren’t a big deal but characters like Yukong who require a lot of Skill Points might have a hard time if you’re too slow in clearing them.

What do you get for beating Echo of War: Phantylia the Undying?

Upon beating Phantylia, you can get the Regret of Infinite Ochema Trace Material. Other drops include either Musketeer of Wild Wheat and Thief of Shooting Meteor Relics. You can also get 4-star Light Cones like Fermata and We Are Wildfire.

Honkaii: Star Rail is readily available on the Windows PC and mobile devices. PS4 and PS5 versions are in development.
