Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life works a bit differently than other installments! This is especially true when it comes to tending animals. In other games, you’d get grass and grow it in your fields, then cut and use that to feed to animals. That’s sort of how it works here. Instead, you need to work on developing your pasture in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life to get fodder and feed your cows.
How do you buy or grow fodder in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life?
Basically, in either case you need to make some sort of initial investment. Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life starts you out with 30 fodder to feed your cow. But from there, you need to get your own.
At Vesta’s farm, you can buy fertilizer. A bag costs you 20G. Using it on a square in the pasture behind the barn on your farm causes grass to start growing. I recommend getting about 10-15 bags initially. Get a whole patch started. If it isn’t raining, leave your cow out there all day. The pasture keeps them happy and fed. That sweet spot of 10-15 means you should always have enough fully-grown patches of grass available so if bad weather does come up, you can take your sickle, cut one or two bunches, and have fodder for your cow.
If you decide to just buy fodder, go to the ledger next the shipping box at your farm. Buy it, and it’ll be added to your stores the next day. Fodder is 20G, while Fodder+ is 50G.
How do you feed your cows in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life
This is a twice-per-day affair! In the bottom right of the barn, you’ll see an area where you can get fodder if you interact with it. You’ll want two pieces at a time. Place each one in the troughs in front of your cow in the barn. This means the cow has something to eat in the morning and evening.
Don’t forget, you can also milk the cow twice per day too!
Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is available for the Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
