How do I get Abstruse Sigils in Diablo IV?

If you have spent hours figuring out how to upgrade your Legendary Jewelry to its fullest level in Diablo IV, you are not alone! After hours of trying to deck out my early-game Necromancer build with the best gear, I was at a loss on how to get the Abstruse Sigil needed to max out my jewelry slots. That is because the rare crafting material only drops with higher-level items.

To get the Abstruse Sigil in Diablo IV, you need to salvage Legendary Jewelry that is at least 400 Item Power level at the Blacksmith. Yep, if your Legendary Jewelry is under 400, then it will not drop the Sigil. Once you have an item at the correct Power level or higher, simply head to any Blacksmith and salvage the Legendary accessory. You will now automatically get the Abstruse Sigil in the Salvage Material menu.

You are guaranteed to get an Abstruse Sigil when salvaging Legendary Jewelry with 400 Power or higher. So the upgrade material becomes much easier to obtain once your character reaches level 40 and above. While most Legendary gear is improved at a Blacksmith, you must head to a Jeweler to upgrade your Jewelry items instead.

To use Abstruse Sigil in Diablo IV, travel to a Jeweler in any major city and select the “Upgrade Item” tab at the vendor. The fourth and final upgrade level for most Legendary Jewelry requires around four Abstruse Sigils. I found the quickest way to grind out Sigils is to just run Dungeons at level 40, as they drop quite a lot of Legendary Jewelry which can then be salvaged.

Diablo IV is available now on the PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. If you’ve yet to upgrade your Healing Potions, here’s how.
