I have two video game channels on my TV in Seoul. Most of time they play Starcraft matches, but when I was flipping through them last night one of them had a live Guitar Hero battle! I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because Guitar Hero is pretty popular in South Korea. Stores are stocked with Guitar Hero III for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 2 with Hangul on the box.
It's interesting to note how Korea's gaming TV channels aren't about game news, they are centered around competitive gaming with a few MMO previews littered in between matches. The most notable program I saw was with a Pro Starcraft player logging on to battle.net in search of random challengers. Once he found someone to play with the match would be shown, win, lose draw or disconnect. In the lobby a potential opponent disconnected, the pro player sighed and the announcers made comments about the fleeing opponent.
