Dragon Ball FighterZ Rollback

Dragon Ball FighterZ Rollback Beta Coming Spring 2023

Rollback is coming soon to Dragon Ball FighterZ, at least if you’re on PC. Bandai Namco announced that a PC beta for the implementation of Dragon Ball FighterZ rollback netcode in the game is scheduled to kick off next season.

Bandai Namco delivered the announcement during the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour 2022/2023 Finals. According to the announcement, the Dragon Ball FighterZ rollback is set to happen in Spring 2023. A more precise date for the testing wasn’t revealed, but the Spring window puts the likely date somewhere between late March and late June 2023. It will be conducted on PC via Steam. The existing PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions of Dragon Ball FighterZ won’t have rollback, though. The update is only destined for the PC version, as well as the planned PS5 and Xbox Series X versions.

For the uninitiated, rollback netcode is a way of dealing with high-latency online connections typical to internet-based and international fighting game matchups. The typical “delay-based” netcode is simpler, but is less suitable for the increasingly international fighting game scene. Many newer fighting games already feature rollback as the default for online play. Older games have been relaunched with rollback to take advantage of an interested online audience.

In addition to a Dragon Ball FighterZ rollback beta test, the development team is also working on a new balance patch. This is despite the fact that in late 2022 the team said that the game had gone through its final balance adjustment phase. The new patch may address trends in the “meta game” that emerged in the months following the last set of patches.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is available on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are in development.
