Riot revealed new details about Convergence: A League of Legends Story as part of the 2023 Year Ahead trailer. First revealed at The Game Awards 2019, Convergence is releasing under the Riot Forge publishing arm, where third-party studios develop unique games focused on League of Legends Champions.
Convergence stars Ekko as the playable character, a Champion best known for his time manipulation abilities. It’s a 2D platformer in which players traverse through the technologically advanced cities of Piltover and Zaun, previously seen in Netflix’s Arcane adaptation. Gameplay is set to have an emphasis on combat, and both combat and traversal will make heavy use of Ekko’s unique abilities, such as the ability to rewind time. The story will feature Ekko uncovering a plot by an organized crime syndicate that requires him to use to his powers to save his home city.
Convergence is being developed by Double Stallion Games, who previously developed Speed Brawl, a platformer and brawler hybrid with a focus on fast movement.
This announcement came alongside new details on Song of Nunu and the reveal of The Mageseeker, also under the Riot Forge label. It follows the previously released titles Ruined King and Hextech Mayhem.
Convergence: A League of Legends Story is set to release in Summer 2023 for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox and PC via Steam, GOG and Epic.
